Baldwin Health Celebrates Family Medicine Residency Program Class of 2026
6/23/2026
FOLEY, Ala. — Baldwin Health proudly celebrates the graduation of the Family Medicine Residency Program Class of 2026, honoring nine* exceptional physicians who have completed three years of rigorous training while serving patients throughout Baldwin County and the surrounding region.
The graduation ceremony will recognize a diverse and talented group of physicians who will now begin the next chapter of their medical careers in communities across the United States, carrying with them the knowledge, experience and compassion cultivated through the Baldwin Health Family Medicine Residency Program.
Notably, every graduate of the program thus far has also become a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
The Baldwin Health Family Medicine Residency Program was founded with a clear purpose:
“To passionately teach, model and mentor exceptional physicians through residency training while providing first-rate patient care to our community.”
Since welcoming its inaugural class in 2018, the program has grown into one of the region’s premier physician training programs. Fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the residency program has achieved a remarkable 100% first-time board certification pass rate throughout its history and continues to produce highly skilled family physicians who serve patients in both rural and urban communities.
The class of 2026 represents a highly accomplished and uniquely positioned graduating class, with graduates pursuing careers in primary care, rural medicine, emergency medicine and fellowship training.
Graduating residents include:
- Belinda Carrie Bell, M.D., who served as chief resident during her final year of training, will return to her hometown of Donalsonville, Georgia, to practice family medicine in a rural community.
- Deanne Margaret Lim Bellosa, M.D., who will begin a primary care practice in Perdido Key, Florida.
- Shannon Fleming Cox, M.D., who will provide outpatient primary care in Houston, Texas.
- Bridget L. Forbes, D.O., who will pursue a career in outpatient family medicine.
- Katy Ellen Gregory, M.D., who will enter outpatient primary care after building strong relationships with patients throughout her residency experience.
- Kenzie Britt Hendrix, D.O., who will continue her training through an emergency medicine fellowship with the University of Tennessee.
- Claire Canthon Hughes, M.D., who will practice primary care in Saraland, Alabama.
- John E. McGann V, D.O., who served as chief resident during his final year of training, will return to his hometown of Melbourne, Florida, to practice outpatient primary care.
- Sawyer J. Stevens, M.D., who will return to South Dakota to provide family medicine in a rural community.
As chief residents, Dr. Bell and Dr. McGann played an integral role in mentoring junior residents while advancing the core mission of the program.
More than a graduation, the ceremony represents the continued success of a residency program dedicated to addressing physician shortages and improving access to quality healthcare. Today, more than half of the program’s graduates practice locally or regionally, strengthening healthcare access throughout Alabama and neighboring states.
Under the leadership of Program Director Dr. Timothy Mott and a dedicated faculty team, residents receive comprehensive training across inpatient medicine, outpatient care, emergency medicine, obstetrics, behavioral health and community-based medicine. The program’s faculty and residents have also contributed significantly to medical research and education, producing more than 50 peer-reviewed publications since 2018.
“As we celebrate this graduating class, we also celebrate the future of healthcare,” said Dr. Mott. “These physicians have demonstrated excellence, compassion, leadership and a commitment to serving others. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and confident they will continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of their patients and communities.”
Baldwin Health congratulates the Family Medicine Residency Program Class of 2026 and thanks them for their dedication to the patients, families and communities they have served throughout their residency journey.
