National recognition reflects Baldwin Health’s commitment to patient safety and quality care
FOLEY, AL, MAY 6, 2026 – Baldwin Health was awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the Spring 2026 grading round by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. This prestigious rating recognizes Baldwin Health’s dedication to protecting patients from preventable harm and providing the highest standard of care in the region.
“This 'A' grade is a testament to the tireless work of our physicians, nurses, and support staff who prioritize the safety of our patients above all else,” said Karen Maxwell, CQO of Baldwin Health. “Safety isn't just a protocol at Baldwin Health; it is the core of our culture. We are incredibly proud of our team for achieving this national benchmark of excellence.”
The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. “Baldwin Health deserves recognition for its focus on protecting patients and delivering safe care,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade shows a true, organization-wide commitment to making patient safety a top priority every single day.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries, and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
