FOLEY, Ala. — Baldwin Health is proud to announce the appointment of Tyler Hillis, MHA, as its new chief operating officer. Hillis brings more than 12 years of progressive leadership experience with Mercy, a nationally recognized health system, where he most recently served as COO at Mercy Hospital Ardmore in Oklahoma.
A seasoned health care executive, Hillis has led high-impact operational strategies across multiple markets, including performance improvement, system growth and patient access initiatives. His career has included roles as vice president of operations, executive director of strategic initiatives, and lean transformation specialist — experience that uniquely positions him to guide Baldwin Health through its next chapter of growth.
“Tyler’s strong track record of collaboration, strategic thinking, and people-centered leadership will be a tremendous asset to Baldwin Health,” said Margaret Roley, CEO of Baldwin Health. “His passion for operational excellence and his commitment to patient-first care align perfectly with our mission to serve Baldwin County with compassion and innovation.”
In his role as COO, Hillis will oversee the hospital’s day-to-day operations, enhance system workflows, and help drive forward Baldwin Health’s strategic initiatives — including expanding service lines, improving clinical efficiencies, and enhancing the patient experience across its growing network of clinics throughout coastal Alabama.
Originally from Missouri, Hillis earned his Master of Health Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine, where he was active in the Health Financial Management Association and Health Management Informatics Graduate Association. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from The University of Southern Mississippi, where he played on the varsity golf team and volunteered with First Tee, receiving the CFA Society of Mississippi Award for academic distinction.
“I’m honored to return to the Gulf Coast region and serve alongside a team so deeply committed to its community,” Hillis said. “Baldwin Health is clearly a place of healing, caring, and connection — and I look forward to building on its legacy of exceptional care.”
