Baldwin Health Welcomes Philip Salstrom, M.D., to Women’s Health Team

Baldwin Health is proud to announce that Philip Salstrom, M.D., has joined the medical staff, bringing compassionate, full-scope obstetrical and gynecologic care to women across Baldwin County.
Dr. Salstrom completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at East Tennessee State and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. During his residency, he was recognized with the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society Award and received the Residents as Teachers Award, reflecting both his clinical excellence and his deep commitment to compassionate patient care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Salstrom has provided comprehensive OB/GYN services in both rural and urban communities, caring for patients with a wide range of needs, including high-risk pregnancies and complex gynecologic conditions. His experience serving as the sole OB/GYN provider in rural settings demonstrates his dedication to expanding access to quality women’s healthcare — a mission that closely aligns with Baldwin Health’s commitment to serving every member of our community.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Salstrom has contributed to medical research, including serving as lead author on a literature review exploring the evolution of hormone therapy practices. His background reflects a strong foundation in evidence-based medicine and a thoughtful approach to advancing women’s health.
